Correspondence in translation project
1. Scope of content for translation
EE currently has documents in 11 source languages — although other languages may be offered as letters are added regularly to the corpus. Institutions can choose choose to translate from any of the source languages into any another language:
- Dutch — 11 letters
- French — 32,950 letters
- 700 from the 17th century
- 32,000 from the 18th century
- 250 from the 19th century
- German — 630 letters
- Greek — 4 letters
- Italian — 265 letters
- Portuguese — 9 letters
- Russian — 4 letters
- Spanish — 14 letters
- Swedish — 8 letters
Please note: this is a list of the primary language of the documents; there are occasions when letters have passages in more than one language. If the translator is competent to translate the additional material they are welcome to do so, otherwise these passages can be left as is.
