Oxford DNB to link to EE!
We are pleased to announce that the Oxford DNB will be providing links to EE correspondent pages for more than 1100 people appearing in both resources. The links will go live in the next update of the ODNB (May 2009).

Biographies
Over 150 new and expanded biographical notes have been provided for correspondents appearing in EE, including such figures as:
- Marguerite Gardiner, countess of Blessington (1789–1849), an Irish aristocrat, salon hostess and author;
- John Borthwick Gilchrist (1759–1841), a Scottish philologist who undertook important research in Indian languages;
- Sir Isaac Heard (1730–1822), an English herald who corresponded with George Washington about his ancestry;
- Franz Mercurius van Helmont (1618–1699), a Dutch theosophist and alchemist who also acted as a freelance diplomat;
- Dorothy Jordan (1761–1816), an Irish actress who was one of the most popular figures of her day;
- Elizabeth Montagu (1718–1800), an English salon hostess, bluestocking and author;
- Baron Theodore Stefan von Neuhoff (1694–1756), a German political adventurer who became king of Corsica;
- Jöran Andersson Nordberg (1677–1744), a Swedish protestant minister and historian who took part in the Swedish war with Russia;
- Francis Place (1771–1854), an English tailor and radical political patron;
- Count Nikolai Petrovich Rumyantsev (1754–1826), a Russian diplomat and government minister whose enormous art and book collection became the core of the Russian State Library.
