Who's invited?

The colloquium is intended to provide a forum for both academics and graduate students exploring different aspects of correspondence and the publication of correspondence — including translations, versions and epistolary fictions — in the early modern period.

Why letters?

Correspondence was immensely influential in the nexus of political, religious, literary and cultural ferment across Europe and the Americas in the 16th–19th centuries. These colloquia are meant to explore and contextualize pre-digital social networks allowing us to reach a deeper understanding of their cultural and historical significance.

We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford to share in this gathering!
